Floyd E. Hamilton

Services for Floyd E. Hamilton will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 13, in the Chapel of the Garden at Rice Funeral Service. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. Pastor Buster Wells will share words of comfort. Visitation for family will be Sunday. 10 a.m. to noon, and noon to 6 p.m. for friends of the family. Floyd passed away at his home in Claremore on Thursday, Nov. 8, 2007 surrounded by his family. He was 71 years of age.

Born on Aug. 12, 1936 to Jean and Curtis (Livingston) Hamilton in Verdigris where he grew up and attended school. Floyd worked in the oil fields before settling into his career as a concrete truck driver where he retired with over 20 years of service.

On Feb. 25, 1986, Floyd and Joyce Stanart married and started their family in Claremore where they enjoyed many years together.

Floyd found joy in a variety of activities, most of which involved spending time with his family. Whether camping, fishing, playing his music, enjoying holidays and birthdays or playing with grandchildren, he loved having his family near.

Floyd was always prepared with a joke or a well-worn story and gave everyone he knew a nickname. The tradition of Pa-pa pleading to be allowed to open just one gift before Christmas morning will be a sweet memory of the “biggest kid” in the Hamilton family.

Those family members who survive their beloved husband, father, Pa-pa, brother and friend include his wife, Joyce, of their home in Claremore; his children, Kim Killough and her husband, Jake, Becky Ferris and her husband, Steve, all of Claremore, LaDonna Smith and her husband, Michael, of Talala, Sandy Cunha of Norman and Ricky Chronister and his wife, Marge, of Greensborough, N.C.; his grandchildren, Darin and Chase Killough, Cassie and Marty Ferris, Kyle, Kari, Jordan and Paige Smith, Jolie Maria, Michael, Brandolyn and Chance; seven great-grandchildren; his siblings, Mildred Gougler of Tulsa, Della Mae Smith of Ponca City and Carl Hamilton of Salina; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Leona Dillard, brother, Raymond Hamilton, and sisters Eula Adamitis and Beulah Morgan.
