Patsy Marie Ryan

A celebration of the life of Patsy Marie Ryan will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at Claremore Assembly of God Church.
Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.  Visitation will be Tuesday at the funeral home from 1-7 p.m. with family receiving visitors from 3-5 p.m..  Patsy passed away on Friday, February 7, 2014.
She was 79.
Born in Claremore at the old Franklin Hospital on October 9, 1934 to Clarence and Zola Mae (Rutledge) Palmberg, Patsy was raised and educated in the community.
After graduating from Claremore High School in 1952, Patsy went on to attend Claremore Beauty College as well as Business School.  Patsy worked at Carle Law Firm as a Legal Secretary and Oral Roberts University as an Administrative Assistant before beginning a 25 year career as Church Secretary at Claremore Assembly of God Church.
On July 18, 1965 Patsy married William “Dee” Ryan in Claremore.  Patsy’s true calling was as a mother and when God gifted her and “Dee” with two children she stayed at home to care for them.
Patsy believed in subsistence farming which allowed her to live off the land and put food on her family’s table.
She grew a large and bountiful one acre vegetable garden.
Patsy’s husband said that “anything worth doing was worth over-doing.”  So the bounty from her sizeable garden allowed her to trade with neighbors for eggs and milk.  She loved to can and freeze her goods and share with friends and family.
The neighbors gifted the Ryan family with a goat and from day one Patsy and the goat were at odds.  He would often give her a hard butt to make sure she knew who was in charge.
It was through this farming lifestyle Patsy taught her children about responsibility and the circle of life.
Patsy was especially devoted to her church.
