CLAREMORE — A celebration of the life of Dale F. Bruer will be 10 a.m., Monday, June 17 at First Baptist Church in Claremore. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12-5 p.m. on Sunday with family receiving visitors from 3-5. Dale passed away on June 13, 2013. He was 80 years old.

Born in Catoosa on March 29, 1933 to Joe and Hattie (Cagle) Bruer, Dale was raised and educated in his birth community. A tremendous athlete, Dale played football, baseball and basketball.

He not only played in Catoosa High School’s first football game but he also played in the first game he ever attended. Dale played baseball for the U.S. Armed Forces all over Germany. At the age of 10, he began caddying at Rolling Hills golf course where he then played his first round of golf with only three clubs and scored an impressive 110.

This was the start of his love of golf. A lover of sports, Dale was also a big OU Sooner and St. Louis Cardinals fan.

On May 15, 1957 Dale married Pat Goodin and their union was blessed with two children, Randy and Carrie.  Together the family lived on some acreage in Catoosa for the next 40 years. Dale retired from Rockwell-Boeing in 1993 after 30 years of employment.

Gardening was a favorite pastime of Dale and family and friends enjoyed the bounty of his garden.

“Papa” to his grandchildren, he cherished time with them and they were his little shadows following him everywhere he went.

This loving husband, father and grandfather will be missed by all whose lives he touched. Dale is survived by his wife of 56 years Pat; his children Randy Bruer and wife Donna of Allen, Texas, and Carrie Bowen and husband Andy of Catoosa; grandchildren Nicole Lange and husband Eric of McKinney, Texas, and Christopher Bowen of Catoosa; brother Ronnie Bruer; sister Carolene Bruer and numerous nieces and nephews. Dale was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Raymond and Wayne Bruer.
