Tel Levi Rodgers

CLAREMORE — A celebration of the life of Tel Levi Rodgers will be 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 30, 2013 in the Chapel of the Gardens at Rice Funeral Service. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday at the funeral home from 1-5 with family receiving visitors from 3-5. Tel passed away on Saturday, September 21, 2013. He was 33.

Born in Tulsa, Okla. on July 8, 1980 to Walter and Jodee (McClary) Rodgers, Tel was raised and educated in Claremore. Tel was a gifted athlete and during his years at Claremore High School, he wrestled and went to the Tulsa Nationals. He also enjoyed playing baseball. Named after a benevolent character in a Louis Lamar novel, Tel was a good person with a kind nature and good character.

Tel was owner and operator of his own construction company working on framing, remodeling homes and a variety of other home improvements. Tel was talented with his hands and could figure out how to build something simply by looking at it. He also loved the outdoors and camping, often taking trips to the clear water of Spring Creek, Blue Hole or Twin Bridges.

Tel was a big kid at heart and children were always drawn to him. He loved his three children and nieces and nephew enjoyed playing with them. Tel loved to tell the children the story about the man in the moon and according to Tel, when you look up at the moon you can see his face in it.

This loving father, son, brother, uncle, nephew, and grandson will be missed by all who knew him. Tel is survived by his mother Jodee Dubois and husband Leory, father Walter Rodgers and wife Jan; his children Levi, Eli and Tylie Rodgers; siblings Brandon Stewart, Jennifer Rodgers and Nathan Medlock; nieces Channing, Paige, Sedleigh Cohen, Kerrigan and Baylor Medlock and Derek Keller. Tel is preceded in death by his daughter Elizabeth.
