Preston Reginald Malone Ganske

CLAREMORE — Services for Preston Reginald Malone Ganske will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at Central Church of the Nazarene, 7291 E.81st St. in Tulsa. Visitation will be Monday, July 8, 2013 from 12 -7 p.m. at Rice Funeral Service, Claremore. Family will receive visitors from 5-7 p.m.

Preston passed away July 3, 2013. He was 24 years old.

Born in Tulsa, Okla. on Dec. 14, 1988 to Steven and Sherry Malone Ganske, Preston received his education in his home town of Tulsa, graduating from Union High School.  He then continued his education by attending Normandale Community College in Bloomington, Minn.

Referred to by his family as a “gentle giant,” Preston was gifted with numerous talents.  An avid hockey player from youth, his love of the game was instrumental in him becoming a highly recognized hockey official.  Preston also found time to support his favorite team the Chicago Blackhawks.  Football was another one of Preston’s interests.  He could be found sporting his favorite colors of purple and gold as he would cheer on the Minnesota Vikings.  Preston also enjoyed playing a round of golf with his father and his buddies.

Other qualities that only those in Preston’s circle of family and friends got to appreciate were his contagious smile, a love for small children and a protective nature toward his younger brother Lucas that he affectionately called “his little ‘bruhder’.”   He also found time to attend his favorite movies with Elizabeth and had expressed a desire to someday become a movie critic.  Preston enjoyed reading and cooking.  His specialty entrees of Mexican and Italian cuisine always received rave reviews at family gatherings.  December was always a special month not only because of Christmas, which he loved, but because of his birthday.  On this special day the family rule was whatever Preston wanted Preston got from food to entertainment.

This creative and charismatic young man will be missed by all whose lives he touched.  Preston is survived by his mother Sherry Malone; his father Steve Ganske and wife Kathleen; his brother Evan Lucas Malone Ganske; his grandparents Patricia and Reginald Collins; Paul Ganske and wife Andrea Ruhland;  and numerous cousins.  He was preceded by his infant son Layton James; his grandmother Sandra Ganske; and uncle Buster Malone.
