CLAREMORE — Alan Lee Hightower, 69, passed away at 4:10 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 5, 2013 in Venice Regional Memorial Hospital in Venice, Fla. while on vacation.

Born in Tulsa, Okla. on Nov. 8, 1943, he retired to Bella Vista, Ark. Alan was a retired Naval Commander who service his country as a helicopter pilot. He also was retired from McDonnell Douglas in Tulsa.

Alan was an active member and PER with the Claremont Elks Lodge. He resided in Claremore for 19 years.

Alan was married to Charlene (Charli) Hightower (Presson) on Oct. 21, 1974; they were married for 39 years. Alan is also survived by his children, Kelly Benjoyn of Buford, Ga., Brian Hightower of Miami Beach, Fla., and Stephanie Myers of Edmond, Okla.; sister, Sonia Hetherington of Richardson, Texas. He was a devoted  grandfather and adored his grandchildren, Samantha and Caleb Hightower of Miami Beach, Fla. Aunt Ruby Landers and Uncle Troy of Tulsa also survive him.

A memorial service will be 1 p.m. on Sept. 7, 2013 at South Lakewood Baptist Church, 6108 E. 20th Street, Tulsa, OK, 74112. In lieu of flowers, Alan’s family requests memorial contributions be made in his memory to the Wounded Warrior Project.  Farley Funeral Home of Venice, Fla. has been entrusted with arrangements.
