CLAREMORE — Services for J.C. McAfee will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 22, 2013 in the Chapel of the Garden at Rice Funeral Service. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. Friends may visit on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 from 1-8 p.m. at the funeral home, with family receiving visitors from 6-8. p.m.

J.C. passed away Friday, May 17, 2013 at the age of 90.   

J.C. McAfee was born on Nov. 17, 1922, in Garland, Texas to G.W. McAfee and Sara Nova (Orvis) McAfee. He served in the US Naval Reserve as a Merchant Marine during World War II.  Following the war he returned to his home in Tulsa where he worked at Tulsa Ice Company until 1952.  He then purchased a Gulf Oil Company service station at Admiral and Harvard.  He ran the station until the late 50s when he opened a body shop and auto salvage in east Tulsa.  In the 1970s he became a full time rancher until 2001 when his health forced him to retire.  J.C. was a beloved father and grandfather and respected friend.  He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Lela Mae (Mizner) McAfee, sons Terry McAfee and his wife Georgia, Tim McAfee and his wife Barbara, and Tom McAfee and his wife Dorothy; grandchildren Teresa O’Donnell, David McAfee, Matt McAfee, Dawna Ward and Amy Menzel; and 10 great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Opal Tiner and Ruby Edwards, and brother Grover McAfee.
