Lynne Fry, longtime resident of Claremore, passed away Tuesday evening, July 16, 2013, in San Francisco, Calif. of cancer at the age of 75. She moved to Walnut Creek, Calif. in 2006 to be near her son and his family.
Lynne was born February 2, 1938 in Verdigris, Oklahoma to Leonard and Elsie Bryant. She was raised and educated in Verdigris and Claremore. She earned a master’s degree from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah. She married Allen Fry on Nov. 8, 1958.
Lynne started her career as an educator in Tulsa and continued as a librarian at Leeper Middle School in Claremore for 30 years until her retirement. She was an inspiration to many of her students, always encouraging them to cultivate a love for reading. As a librarian, she owned many volumes of classical books that filled every available shelf space wherever she lived.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Kathy Bryant; her parents, Leonard and Elsie Bryant; her sister, Carol Kinnear and brother-in-law Cleve Kinnear; and her husband of 42 years, Allen Fry.
She is survived by her son, M. Allen Fry, M.D., and his wife, Jennifer Brokaw, M. D., and their two daughters, Claire and Meredith Fry, all of San Francisco; her brother Michael Bryant and his wife, Gloria Bryant, both of Pocola, Oklahoma; her niece, Lesa Kinnear Weber, D.D. S. and husband, Jeff, and their two children, Allie and Parker Weber, all of Pacific Palisades, California; her niece, Jennifer Bryant Simpson and her husband, Mike, and their children, Jacob, Kade, and Mckynlee Simpson, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; her brother-in-law, Jerry Fry of Claremore; her sister-in-law, Martha Koger of Claremore; her aunt, Virginia Balisle of Claremore; and numerous cousins, friends, and extended family members.
There will be no services. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Claremore Museum of History. Please contact the Museum at 121 N. Weenonah Avenue for more information.
