Desmond Keyon “Kekemo” Davis

CLAREMORE — A celebration of the life of Desmond Keyon “Kekemo” Davis will be 2 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2013 at New Hope Church of God. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. Desmond passed away on Saturday, Sept. 7. He was 27.

Born on Dec. 2, 1985 in Claremore to Alfred Lampkin and Martha Davis, Desmond was reared and educated in his birth community. After graduation he attended Career Point College and began work as a welder in the manufacturing industry.

Desmond became a father on March 6, 2001 and accepted that role with great enthusiasm, helping take care of and nurture his son. Their free time consisted of playing catch and watching their favorite television show, The Simpsons.  They also were both fans of the Nebraska Corn Huskers and could often be seen sporting the school colors, red and black.

A man of many interests, Desmond loved music, hanging out with friends and fishing. He enjoyed many types of music, two of his favorites were Young Jeezy and MeanFaceCrew which he managed and dreamed of one day helping them to sign a recording deal. Desmond had a great personality and an infectious laugh. People were drawn to him and he had many friends. Desmond was an avid hunter and enjoyed wild hog hunting even though he could never talk his mother into joining him on a hunt.

This loving father, son and friend will be missed by all who knew him. Desmond is survived by his son Key-Addriah Davis and his mother Amber Barnett; Desmond’s mother Martha Brashar; his father Alfred Lampkin and wife Dorothy; his step-father Doyle Brashar Jr.; brothers Keena Davis, Shakeyl Davis, Doyle Brashar III, and sister ShanTeyl Brashar; nephews Dominic, Kyzer and Malachi and niece Trinity; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends; adoptive parents (Bob) Coach and Laura Williams, sister Molly Manning and brothers D.J. and Kendale; adoptive grandparents Henry and Alberta Cupps and Mimi Jo; Carolyn Flint. Desmond is preceded in death by his grandparents and brother Christian.

In lieu of flowers a trust fund has been set up in Desmond’s name at NEO Federal Credit Union in Claremore.
