CLAREMORE — Pearl Neva Brown was born on Aug. 9, 1920 in Cold Springs, Oklahoma to John Jay and Molly (Holder) Brown.

She Graduated from Mountain Park High School in Mountain Park, Okla.

Pearl married Ellis Houston Duke on Oct. 27, 1940 in Altus, Okla. They made their home in Hobart, Okla. until 1954 when they moved to Chelsea. Houston died on April 14, 1987.   

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Chelsea.

Pearl died on Sunday, Nov. 3 at Claremore Nursing Home, at the age of 93.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers Martin and Andrew Brown, sister Izell Conard, son Johnny Duke, two sons-in-law Ed Lanig and James Knight.

She is survived by her four daughters, Mary Evelyn Lanig of Chelsea, Okla., Emma Lou Ray and husband Bill of Claremore, Okla., Wanda Ann Knight of Edmond, Okla., and Letetia Duke of Oklahoma City, Okla.; 12 grandchildren, Wayne and Donna Stinnett, Duke and Cynthia Stinnett, Scott and Angel Ray, John and Stephanie Ray all of Claremore, Okla., Cindy and Dale Countrymen of Adair, Okla., Jerry Stinnett of Norman, Okla., Daniel and Beth Ray of Cope, Colo., Michael and Jill Chisam of Hutchinson, Kan., Gary and Dee Chisam of Wichita, Kan., Nikki Knight of Edmond, Okla., Sabrina and Kelly Bottroff of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Kendrick and Julie Melville of Evans, Ga.; nine great-grandchildren, Jake, Kellyn, and Abigail Stinnett, Ethan, Shepard and William Ray all of Claremore,  Will Hefner of Adair, Okla., Chloe and Ben Chisam of Hutchinson, Kan.

Funeral service is 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, 2013 at the First Baptist Church in Chelsea with Pastor Greg Keenen and Jay McAlister officiating, Music by Jay Foster. Casket Bearers Wayne Stinnett, Duke Stinnett, Michael Chisam, Gary Chisam, Jerry Stinnett, Scott Ray. Honorary Casket Bearers John Ray and Daniel Ray. Burial will follow in the Chelsea Cemetery.
