Pastor Jerry Moore will share words of comfort. Friends may visit at the funeral home from noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday. Kenneth passed away Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2011. He was 89.
Born in Vian, on Sept. 7, 1922, to Andrew and Lyda (Anderson) Odom, Kenneth graduated from Will Rogers High School in Tulsa, and a business school program, before attending OSU. During WWII, Kenneth served in the Army in France, Germany and Belgium. Trained as a machinist, Kenneth was employed by Bethlehem Steel, American Airlines, Boeing and Patty Precision before opening his own shop. The owner of several gas stations, Kenneth eventually converted one into a machine shop.
On Feb. 18, 1965, Kenneth and Phyllis Juanita Barker married and raised five children. His hobbies included billiards, and race horses; the latter turned into a passion which allowed him to travel extensively racing them. When at home, he enjoyed keeping the backyard birds well-fed—particularly a very demanding cardinal.
A loving father, and selfless, caring friend, Kenneth is survived by his children, Danny Lee Odom, Kenneth Ned Odom and wife, Linda, and Gary John Odom, all of Tulsa, and Lori Ann Wayne and husband, Elliot, of Las Vegas; 13 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; nephews Dennis and Nick Epperson and many other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Phyllis Odom, his son, Steven Odom, and his sister, Mary Epperson.
Flowers are welcome or memorial contributions in Kenneth’s honor may be made to the Activity Fund at the Claremore Veterans Center, P.O. Box 988, Claremore, OK 74018.
