Clarence Arthur Schulze

CLAREMORE — Clarence Arthur Schulze, 74, of McPherson, Kan., passed away at 8:30 a.m., Monday, Aug. 26, 2013, suddenly, at his home, McPherson, Kan.

 Clarence was born in Chelsea, Okla. on Feb. 27, 1939, a son of Selma Louise (Radke) and Emil Henry Schulze. Clarence attended the Chelsea grade school and Chelsea High School, Chelsea, Oklahoma.

 Clarence was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church Canton, Kan. He was a past member of the Grace Lutheran Church, McPherson, Kansas.

 Clarence served in the U.S. Army as a SP4 (E-4) (T). Clarence's specialty was Engineer Equipment Mechanic and he spent 1 year seven months and 27 days over sea's and in Germany and a total of 2 years 24 days before being honorably discharged. He received the Good Conduct Medal and Army of Occupation Medal.

 Through the years Clarence worked for Herb Radke at Texaco Station and Radke Oil Company, was a farmer, worked as a maintenance man for Butterfield Construction Company, built trailers for Chaparral Trailers, and was a maintenance man for Wear Technology.

Clarence was a member of the V.F.W. Post 2715 McPherson, Kansas. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, camping, gardening, working in his yard, being out-of-doors, spending time with his family.

 Clarence A. Schulze was united in marriage to Norma Jean Klassen on June 14, 1964. Jeanie died on May 27, 2013.

Surviving family members include his son, Randy Schulze and his wife Barb, of Salina, Kan.; his siblings, Ted Schulze and his wife Frances, of Chelsea, Okla., Lillian Schulze, of Joplin, Mo., Margaret Sutton, of Claremore, Okla., Edwin Schulze, of Chelsea, Okla., Pearl Harper of Claremore, Okla., and Bernice Walker and her husband Johnny, of Chelsea, Okla.; his 3 grandchildren - Josh Macey, Payton Nguyen, and Alli Schulze all of Salina, Kan.; his great-grandson, Jayden, Nguyen; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Clarence was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Jeanie, brothers, Gary, Albert, Norman, and Ernest Schulze.

Memorial service will be at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Canton, Kan., at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013, with Pastor Seth Meyer officiating.

The final resting place will be at the Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery Canton, Kan. with military honors presented by members of the American Legion Post 24 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2715 both of McPherson.

Burial, with military honors, will follow at Chelsea Cemetery under the direction of Rice Funeral Service. Visitation will be Monday from 1-5 p.m. at the funeral home.
