Annabeth Schwaesdall

CLAREMORE — Annabeth Schwaesdall, 85, of Henrietta, Texas passed away on Wednesday, September 19, 2012 in Henrietta.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012 at the First Baptist Church in Henrietta, Texas with Rev. Randy Osborn, pastor, officiating. The family will be at Davis Funeral Home on Friday evening, September 21, 2012 from 6-7 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Davis Funeral Home in Henrietta, Texas.

On Monday, Sept. 24, 2012 there will be a funeral service at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Oologah, Oklahoma with Rev. Jerry Moore, pastor, officiating. . Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery in Talala, Oklahoma. The family will be at the Oologah Funeral Home on Sunday evening from 4-5 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of the Oolagah Funeral Home in Oolagah, Okla.

 Annabeth was born on May 11, 1927, in Talala, Oklahoma to Roy and Tessa (Troxel) Nicholson. Upon graduation from Talala High School in 1945, she married her high school sweetheart, Tom Schwaesdall. She worked briefly at Douglas Aircraft in Tulsa, Okla. before beginning her career with the United States Postal Service. On April 18, 1957, she was appointed Postmaster at Oologah, Oklahoma. She placed great effort and dedication into her career as Postmaster. Her clerks, mail carriers, and patrons greatly appreciated and respected her commitment and service to the community. She retired in 1986, after thirty years of service. Upon retirement, she moved to Henrietta, Texas.

Annabeth was active in the Northeast Oklahoma Chapter of The National Association of Postmasters, and served as both vice president and president of the chapter. In January of 2011, she was awarded a Fifty Year Pin for her membership in the Oologah Chapter of Eastern Star, where she once served as Worthy Matron. Annabeth was a longtime member of the Oologah First Baptist Church. Upon her retirement and relocation to Henrietta, Texas, she joined the First Baptist Church of Henrietta.

She was a talented musician, an avid reader, and enjoyed traveling, She will be remembered for her ability to express her wit and wisdom with perfect timing. She was a survivor with a strong determined will to overcome life’s adversities. Her independent spirit, ingenuity, and humor will be greatly missed.

 Annabeth is survived by: daughters; Jackie Bryant and husband Dennis of Briartown, Oklahoma; Dr. Joyce Ritchie and husband Jim of Henrietta, Texas; one sister, Louise Blackburn of Claremore, Okla.; four grandchildren, Janelle Southard and husband Mark of Wichita Falls, Texas; Joe Bryant and wife Amber of Weatherford, Oklahoma; Lyndsay Mathews of Pasadena, Calif. and Riley Mathews of Nashville, Tenn.; four great-grandchildren, Grayson Southard, Gavin Southard, Kamri Bryant, and Kaitlyn Bryant; one niece, Janet Knori of Talala, Okla..     

Annabeth was preceded in death by nephew Mike McComb and her parents, Roy and Tessa Nicholson.
