Michael T. Adams

CLAREMORE — A celebration of the life of Michael T. Adams will be 1 p.m. Saturday, June 22, 2013 at First United Methodist Church. Visitation will be today at the funeral home from 12-7 with family receiving visitors from 5-7.

Michael passed away on Monday, June 17, 2013 at the age of 48.

In the spring of 1965 Michael was born in Fort Benning, Ga. on April 27 to John and Evelyn Null Adams. Michael was part of a military family and during his childhood lived in a number of interesting places before making Claremore home in 1975 and graduating from Claremore High School in 1983.

On March 16, 1991 Michael and Gina Clark married at First Baptist Church in Claremore. Their marriage was blessed with two children, Ryan and Matthew. Stephanie Webb joined the family later to become the daughter Michael and Gina never had. Michael excelled at being a husband and he was an extraordinary father. Family was always the most important thing in Michael’s life. He was described by his family as being a wonderful father and husband.  Michael could often be found spending time with his family, golfing, fishing, bowling or coaching his son Ryan’s soccer team.  He also enjoyed listening to his youngest son, Matthew, sing.

Michael had such a zest for life and his giving spirit was so contagious that people were drawn to him.  His high level of energy was an inspiration to many and his sense of humor kept everyone laughing. His mother-in-law described him as “the most giving person she had ever known and he was always doing for others.”   Michael exemplified this in the countless hours he spent doing fundraisers and working concession stands for the Verdigris Soccer Club, an organization that he served on the Board of Directors. Michael took pride in his benevolent service to the Claremore Elks Lodge where he formed lifelong friendships serving on numerous committees and participating in charitable activities. Michael faithfully held all lodge chairs and is a past Exalted Ruler.

In November of 2012 Michael was diagnosed with cancer and as he heroically fought his illness he never lost his determination. Not only did he continue to work until last Thursday, he also ran a 5K race placing 3rd while he carried his chemotherapy treament in a fanny pack and only slowing down to wait for a fellow coworker.

This loving husband, father and son will be missed by all whose lives he touched. Michael is survived by his wife of 22 years, Gina; his children Ryan Adams, Matthew Adams and Stephanie Webb; his brother Frank Adams and wife Donna, sister Sarah Childress and husband Jay; his parents John and Evelyn Adams; his mother-in-law Phyllis Clark; his sister-in-laws Jeri Poplin and Julie Cannon and husband Eric. Michael was preceded in death by his grandparents Ted and Eloise Null and F. John and Gladys Adams; father-in-law Earl Clark and brother-in-law Greg Poplin.

In lieu of flowers or other condolences, please consider sending a donation in Michael Adams’ name to Verdigris Soccer Club at P.O. Box 94, Catoosa, OK 74015.
