Carl passed away Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at the age of 70.

The son of Glen and Lucy Ward Hefner was born February 18, 1944 in Chelsea, Oklahoma.  As a young boy he was raised in rural Rogers County where he attended Bushyhead and Chelsea schools.  In 1964 he joined the Oklahoma National Guard.  While serving, he also began working at Eastern State Hospital in Vinita.   It was while working there that he eventually met Carolyn M. Pinkston.  They were married February 16, 1970, and made their home in Chelsea. Over the next several years Carl worked for the Hesston-Danhuser Corporation.  He then went to work for area coal mining jobs before going to work in the early part of the 1990’s for Rogers County.  He worked there until he retired in 2012 as District  #1 road foreman.  Carl was also very active in the Foyil Assembly of God Church.  There he taught Sunday School as well as helped with many local ministries.  In his spare time you would find him gardening, tinkering with his tractor, or enjoying his favorite pastime of being with his family.  He was a devout, loving man.

He is preceded in death by his father, Glen Hefner; and son, Vernon Hefner.

Survivors include his wife Carolyn of the home, sons, Marvin Hefner and wife Belinda, and Carl Hefner, Jr. and wife Telli; mother, Lucy Hefner; brothers, George and Danny Hefner; sisters, Juanita Conrad, Shirley Steidley, Rhonda Hefner, Kathy Peck, and Jean Hefner; grandchildren, Casey Gatlin and husband Vance, Dustin Hefner and wife Brittany, Dillon Hefner, Brooke Hefner, Vicky Phillips, Kristalynn Cothran and husband Matt, Ariana Rollman and husband Phillip and Telena Hefner;  and great-grandchildren, Dominic Hefner, Brianna Hefner, Beckett Rollman and Maddox Cothran.
