W. L. “Bill” Stewart


W. L. “Bill” Stewart 68, of Claremore, died after a courageous battle with cancer, Thursday, July 4, 2013 at The Clarehouse Hospice Center in Tulsa, Okla. 
He was born July 9, 1944 in Kansas City, Mo., to the late William W. and Faye (Farmer) Stewart.
He was also preceded in death by his older sister, Marie Viola Frazier of Buffalo, Missouri. Bill is survived by Lynette Trotter of the home, his four sons, Lee Stewart, North Carolina, Stephen Stewart, La., Matt Stewart, Topeka, Kan. and Justin Stewart of Leavenworth, Kansas and their mother Gayle (Roberts) of Arkansas. Also surviving is his brother Gilbert Stewart of Jacksonville, North Carolina. Bill was a Marine with fifteen years of service and served two tours in Vietnam. Among his personal decorations are the Purple Heart, CAR, VSM (7th Awd), VCM w/device, GCM (3rd Awd) and the NDSM. He retired from the Bureau of Prisons in Leavenworth, Kan. where he was a councilor. History was his passion and he received a B.A. in history from Saint Mary's College, Leavenworth, Kan.
He was a member of the Discovery Expedition of St. Charles, Mo., the official re-enactment group of the Lewis and Clark expedition. Bill and Lynette traveled for three years teaching school groups of the history of the Louisiana Purchase and the adventures of Lewis and Clark.
The immediate family gathererd for a graveside service on Saturday, July 13, 2013 at White Chapel Memorial Gardens in Springfield, Mo. 
A black-powder musket salute was performed by a delegation of our Lewis and Clark members from the Discovery Expedition of St Charles, Mo.

    She is the daughter of Fred and Ida Cook Birchmeier. She spent her early life traveling, as her dad worked on the pipeline construction projects. She was in the 4th grade when her family bought a farm in Emporia, Kan.

    A celebration of the life of Kenneth Wayne DeLozier, Sr., will be 10 a.m., Wed., April 16, 2014 at First Baptist Church in Chelsea. Burial, with military honors, will follow at Chelsea Cemetery under the direction of Rice Funeral Service. Visitation will be Monday from 1-5 p.m. at the funeral home.

    A mass of Christian burial for Marion “Buddy” Robertson, Sr. will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday, April 5, 2014 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church with Father Paul Eichoff officiating.  Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery under the direction of Rice Funeral Service.  Visitation will be Friday from 3-7 with a wake and prayer vigil at 5:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Garden at Rice Funeral Service.   Family will receive visitors at the conclusion of the prayer service.
