Danny E. Golden

CLAREMORE — A memorial service for Danny E. Golden will be 3 p.m., Monday, July 29, 2013 in the Chapel of the Garden at Rice Funeral Service.  Danny passed away on Mon., July 22, 2013.  He was 61.

Born Nov. 11, 1951 in Camp Roberts, Calif., to Russell Daniel and Rose “Pearl” (Hackett) Golden, Danny spent 1st grade thru the 5th in Germany and 5th thru 12th here in Claremore. He continued his education by attending the University of Oklahoma.

During his college years he worked in a coal mine. Later in life Danny went back to school and studied chiropractic medicine at Cleveland Chiropractic in Kansas City and became a doctor at the age of 40. He practiced in Broken Arrow for a time before health challenges prevented him from his work.

Danny loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He was a great cook and enjoyed fixing wonderful meals for his family and many friends. He learned a great deal about cooking and was a chef for a time.

Danny always shared a trick or two in the kitchen and was even teaching Rocky, his health care helper, some culinary techniques. A very interesting and funny person, Danny always drew a crowd of friends and family around him.

He was the life of the party and loved to effortlessly tell a joke or two. His charismatic personality made him one you wanted to be close to. He had many friends and kept in contact with all of them. Danny was also a fighter; having had a heart and liver transplant in 2001. He battled his health challenges with vim and vigor.

He never gave up, even when the odds were stacked high against him. He was defiantly a hero in his family’s eyes.

A wonderful brother and friend, Danny will be missed by all who knew him. Those family members that survive include his sister Sheila Golden of Tulsa and his brother David Golden and wife Paulette of Tahlequah and his nephews Zach Golden and Adam Golden.

Danny was preceded in death by his parents.
