Lora Mae Litterell

CLAREMORE — A celebration of the life of Lora Mae Litterell will be 10 a.m., Monday, June 9, 2014 at Claremore Assembly of God Church. Burial will follow at 3 p.m. at Maxey Cemetery in Wister, OK under the direction of Rice Funeral Service.  Visitation will be Sunday from 1-5 at the funeral home with family receiving visitors from 3-5.

Lora passed away Thursday, June 4, 2014. She was 78.

Born in Wister, Okla. on February 24, 1936 to James and Victoria Mae (Martin) Evans, Lora was one of thirteen children; she was raised and educated in Wister graduating from Wister High School.  Lora’s work career as a data entry clerk enabled her to work at Oral Roberts University, Lowrance Electronics and retire from Claremore Veteran’s Center.

On February 22, 1963 Lora married James Litterell, Sr. in a ceremony in Tulsa, Okla. Their union was gifted with three children and they became a blended family of eight. Lora being referred to as a Proverbs 31 woman showed each of the children not only unconditional love but a Christ like example with which to pattern their lives by. In 1972 the family made their home in Claremore. Lora found her nitch as wife and mother. She supported her husband in all ways, almost to a fault as she always put him first. Lora loved children and couldn’t wait to be a mother and would do anything for her children.  When her grandchildren came along she was joyous and loved to spend every possible moment with them as “Grandma” and “Nana.”  Her church family was also important to Lora and she was always quite involved in many church activities.

Lora was an intelligent and caring person. She was said to have a photographic memory and her family referred to her as a walking date book as she could remember everything from anniversaries to birthdays. Lora enjoyed reading, especially Christian fiction. She also loved visiting garage sales and thrift stores to find bargains.

This loving mother and grandmother will be missed by all whose lives she touched. Lora is survived by her children Milburn Litterell and wife Sonja, Virgil Litterell and wife Tammy, Kyla Jones and husband Gary, Lois Hicks and husband David, James Litterell, Jr., David Litterell and wife Linda; grandchildren Jacob and Emily Litterell, Raechel Schiedel and husband Derek, Caleb and Noah Jones; great grandchildren Claire Elizabeth Schiedel. This blended family grandmother had numerous other grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her sisters-in-law Margie Whitt and Mary Sue Evans; and numerous nieces and nephews. Lora was preceded in death by her parents, husband James Litterell, Sr., three sisters, nine brothers and daughter-in-law Linda Litterell.

Pallbearers will be Roy Rollins, Rob Rollins, Ron Rollins, Wayne Allen, Kelsey Wells, Angela Nowlin, Amber Holinsworth, and Maegan Gardner; and honorary pallbearer will be Rev. Joey Bentley. Visitation will be held on Thursday, from 1-8 p.m. with family greeting friends from 6-8 p.m.

    Mildred Warden was the mother of three and surrogate mother to hundreds.
    She operated one of Claremore’s first daycare for children. She died Friday, July 11, 2014 at the age of 86.

     Services celebrating the life of Johnny Lee Fivecoats will be 3 p.m., Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at Memorial Heights Baptist Church, Claremore.  Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, under the direction of MMS-Payne Funeral Home. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 1-8pm on Tuesday, July 15, with family receiving visitors from 6-8 p.m.
