Dale Lawrence Long

CLAREMORE — A celebration of the life of Dale Lawrence Long will be 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013 at Calvary Free Will Baptist Church in Claremore. Burial will follow at Row Cemetery in Colcord, Okla. Visitation will be Tuesday from 1-5. Dale passed away on Friday, Sept. 13. He was 77.

Born on Feb. 25, 1936 in Colcord to Sullivan and Marie (Allen) Long, Dale received his education in Jay graduating with the class of 1954. He began working for Rockwell-Boeing in 1964 and was a faithful employee until his retirement 30 years later.

On April 26, 1957 Dale married Ida Belle Crank in a ceremony in Colcord. Their union was blessed with two children. A wonderful husband and father, Dale was great provider and always made sure his family was without need.

Dale helped establish the Calvary Free Will Baptist Church and served as deacon for 42 years. He was also song director, treasurer, Sunday School Superintendent and board member. He also served on several boards in the Northeast District of Free Will Baptist Association.

During his and Ida Belle’s 20-year retirement they traveled to many places including all of the U.S. except Idaho and Hawaii. Both Dale and Ida Belle were good fisherman and drove their motor home on many trips to many different destinations including four trips to Alaska where they fished for salmon. They also enjoyed several cruises and spent many hours sight-seeing. A master gardener, Dale loved to grow his garden, some years growing over 100 tomato plants. He treasured the time spent outdoors and liked to hunt deer on his farm.  

This loving husband, father and grandfather will be missed by all who knew him. Dale is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ida Belle Long; children Ivan Long and wife Judy of Claremore, Tina Long Butler and husband Michael of Bixby; grandchildren Jake Butler and wife Jordan of Bixby, Tyler Butler of Bixby who is currently serving in Puna, India; Angie Lawless and husband Ray of Haslet, Texas and their sons Draze and Hunter; Brandon and Noah Collom of Claremore; brothers Lester Long of Jay and Delwin Long of Claremore. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Hubert and Manford Long.

    She is the daughter of Fred and Ida Cook Birchmeier. She spent her early life traveling, as her dad worked on the pipeline construction projects. She was in the 4th grade when her family bought a farm in Emporia, Kan.

    A celebration of the life of Kenneth Wayne DeLozier, Sr., will be 10 a.m., Wed., April 16, 2014 at First Baptist Church in Chelsea. Burial, with military honors, will follow at Chelsea Cemetery under the direction of Rice Funeral Service. Visitation will be Monday from 1-5 p.m. at the funeral home.

    A mass of Christian burial for Marion “Buddy” Robertson, Sr. will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday, April 5, 2014 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church with Father Paul Eichoff officiating.  Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery under the direction of Rice Funeral Service.  Visitation will be Friday from 3-7 with a wake and prayer vigil at 5:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Garden at Rice Funeral Service.   Family will receive visitors at the conclusion of the prayer service.
