A celebration of the life of Mary L. Campbell was today in the Chapel of the Garden at Rice Funeral Service. Entombment followed at Oakhaven Memorial Gardens under the direction of Rice Funeral Service. Mary passed away on Friday, March 28, 2014. She was 85.
Born in Clinton, Okla. on May 16, 1928 Mary was one of four children gifted to John and Audrey (Fisher) Marrs. Referred to as being tougher than boot leather by her family, a title that was earned at her birth — weighing only a pound and a half Mary’s parents carried her out of the hospital in a shoebox on a pillow. This was the first miracle in her life that she survived. In her adult years Mary battled cancer three times and even though she refused chemotherapy she was once again a survivor which was the second miracle in her life.
On May 14, 1971 in Miami, Okla., Mary married Charles Campbell. He was not only the love of her life but the perfect father and role model for her children. Mary loved taking care of her family and even though she had a career at RCB bank for 25 years it was the career as homemaker that she treasured. Mary was always involved in any and all of the activities of her children and when the grandchildren arrived they too became the recipient of Mary’s attention and support.
