“So what does that mean?” the 19-year-old driver asked, pointing to a bent and rusted white road sign with black lettering, “SPEED RADAR CONTROLLED”.

“It just means the Catoosa police use radar to track speeders,” the 49-year-old mother replied.

“OH!,” the teenager exclaimed. “I always thought it meant if you took your foot off the gas pedal you would automatically go 40 mph. You know, like they can control your speed.”

“You are kidding?”

“No,” she said, a question mark in her voice. “They really can’t do that? Then why do they have that sign?”
