Editor,

As a Class of 2005 alum from Claremore High School, it is always a pleasure to return home and attend the annual Field of Dreams Baseball Banquet. While driving "home" late on January 22nd, I could not help but to think what a privilege it is to be surrounded by such outstanding people in the community and around the various baseball programs in Claremore. From the likes of Mr. Pixley, the infamous Dave Wilber, and Darryl "Ballpark Frank" Reed - Claremore baseball has history deeper than the storied accomplishments on the diamond. As I sat there on January 22nd listening Hall of Famer Phil Niekro tell stories and the great Wayne McCombs spit off stats about the 1985 season like it was yesterday, I could not help but think how special is was to be there at that moment. In closing, I want to thank all of those who make the Field of Dreams Baseball Banquet an annual tradition and to guys like my Dad, Uncle, and those in the community who never waiver in support. There truly is something special about Claremore Baseball and the community that supports it. ONCE A ZEBRA, ALWAYS A ZEBRA.
