Notice is hereby given that the Oklahoma Conservation Commission has selected the West Chelsea-248 abandoned coal strip mine sites in Rogers County for reclamation work. The site is located west of Chelsea in the W 1/2 of the NW 1/4 of Section 26, T 24 N, R 17 E, Chelsea USGS Quadrangle. A detailed description of the proposed reclamation activity is available for inspection at the Oklahoma Conservation Commission office.
The Conservation Commission is requesting the public’s input on the following points:
1. The need for the proposed project.
2. How the project should be carried out.
3. What the post-reclamation use of the project should be.
4. Suggestions for other possible reclamation of surface coal mine strip pits, underground coal mine open shafts or mine portals, and any other hazards associated with past coal mining that pose a threat to the health and safety of the general public.
