For the past 3 years the Cherokee Nation has offered Cherokee citizens age 60 and older the opportunity to gather and learn more about how the Cherokee Nation can help keep their golden years golden.

On September 28, 2017 the Cherokee Elder's Summit will be held from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm at Cherokee Casino  Will Rogers Downs.  Elders will have the opportunity to learn how to spot scams intended to defraud them taking away their hard earned savings.  Elder abuse continues to exploit seniors resulting in over 15,000 reports of abuse against elders each year.

In an effort to protect seniors, the Cherokee Nation, Cherokee Marshal Service and the Cherokee Nation Attorney General's office work with state and local agencies to prevent fraud whenever possible and prosecute those that prey on the elderly.  By giving seniors tools to spot abuse and resources to turn to when they think they may have been a victim, this elder's summit hopes to empower seniors.

The event is free and lunch will be provided.  For more information please contact Glenda McClanahan at (918) 453-5000 ex 7052 or e-mail glenda-mcclanahan@cherokee.org
