Lt. Governor to speak at FBC’s ‘September 11 Remembrance Service’ in Claremore

CLAREMORE — Lt. Gov. Todd Lamb will be in Claremore on the tenth anniversary of the September 11 attacks as the guest of honor at First Baptist Church’s “September 11 Remembrance Service.”

Himself a former Secret Service agent, Lt. Gov. Lamb will address the FBC congregation during the morning service, commemorating the courage of sacrifice made by American men and women on the morning of Sept. 11, 2001.

“In 1998, Lt. Gov. Lamb became a Special Agent with the United States Secret Service,” said FBC Senior Pastor Kevin Stewart. “He was elected president of his Secret Service Academy class and graduated with special recognition.

“During his U.S. Secret Service tenure, Lamb investigated and made numerous arrests in the areas of counterfeiting, bank fraud, threats against the President, and identity theft,” he said. “His duties included domestic and international protection assignments during the Clinton and George W. Bush administrations.

“In 2000, Lamb was site supervisor for George W. Bush's presidential campaign, and in early 2001, he was appointed to the national Joint Terrorism Task Force, where he received training and briefings at the CIA, FBI, and Secret Service headquarters in Washington, D.C.,” he said. “After the terrorists' attacks, he was assigned to portions of the 9-11 investigation.”

Pastor Stewart said he feels that Lt. Gov Lamb’s experience as a federal agent makes him “keenly insightful” on what is expected of those sworn to service.

Additionally, local first responders including local fire departments, police department, sheriff’s office, city mayor’s office, American Red Cross, EMS, and the local National Guard are invited to attend FBC’s service to be honored.

“Anyone who is a first responder or military is invited to wear their uniform (to the erand we will be honoring each service division as a group,” Pastor Stewart said. “We will also have a drum corps and local Honor Guard.”

FBC’s Chapel also will be open for prayer at the time of the first original attack on Sept. 11 — from 7:46 t 8:6 a.m. — to allow individuals and families the opportunity to spend time in prayer before attending their regular Bible Study Fellowship classes.

First Baptist Church’s “September 11 Remembrance Service: will begin at 10:15 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 11 in the Worship Center.

FBC is located at 107 East Will Rogers Boulevard.
