Pilot Club donates $2,000 to Rogers County Drug Abuse Program

CLAREMORE — The Pilot Club of Claremore has partnered with Pilot International Foundation, the Cox Connects Foundation and United Way in providing money to the Rogers County Drug Abuse Program for SMART Boards.  The Smart Boards will be used for their Chemical Dependency Education and Outreach Program.

The SMART Board is an interactive whiteboard used by presenters and clients to help improve learning outcomes.  It combines the simplicity of a whiteboard with the power of a computer.   A projector is used to display a computer’s video output on the interactive whiteboard, which then acts as a large touch screen.  The SMART Board allows for delivery of lessons, writes notes in digital ink and saves the work.  The Rogers County Drug Abuse Program will use the SMART Board to provide special group programs for adolescents, persons with co-occurring mental and substance abuse disorders, DUI offenders and criminal justice groups.

The Pilot Club of Claremore was able to donate the SMART Board due to local fundraising efforts.  Those funds were then matched by Pilot International Foundation through a grant program.  PIF’s Matching Grant Program has disbursed over $1,100,000 since its inception in 1977.  Through the matching grant program, PIF has been able to help thousands of individuals become active, productive citizens.

The Pilot Club of Claremore is part of Pilot International, which was established in 1921 in Macon, Ga.  Pilot is committed to helping people with brain-related disorders.  The mission of Pilot International is to serve by furthering Pilot International’s humanitarian efforts through charitable, educational and research programs in communities throughout the world.

Have you ever run a red light or stop sign? If you have, it was probably not something you meant to do or want to repeat. You didn’t mean to, but maybe you were distracted or focused elsewhere.
Then, as you realized your error, your heart skipped a beat. Hopefully, an accident did not occur.

  • ROUND - When You Lived Behind Bars

“Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free” ~ John 8:32 (NIV).

Clad only in a pair of plaid pajama pants, he crossed the street and walked down the alley behind a row of businesses. I was startled. As I approached the parking lot near the courthouse, I crossed paths with several deputies. Taking in the scene before me, I realized the barefooted man, whose arms clutched a few belongings, had been a prisoner in the county jail. He had been set free.
