  • First Christian hosts parking lot picnic

    First Christian Church will be serving hamburgers and hotdogs with their neighbors Memorial Day evening during Friendship Feast. Located at 5th and Florence, Chef Russ Riffle will charcoal in the parking lot of the church. Church members will bring their favorite side dish.

  • Church news: Knitting group and Shepherd's Cross living nativity

    First United Methodist Church is starting a volunteer group of knitters and crocheters to make baby blankets and baby hats for area hospitals. They meet at 10 a.m. each Thursday at the church’s Volunteers Office. For more information, visit careministries@claremorefumc.org or call 918-640-0143

  • ROUND: When You Say Farewell

    My 11-month-old grandson is learning to wave goodbye. He has said, “Bye-Bye,” once. Only two people, including myself, were witnesses to those spoken words. It was exciting to share the news with his parents, who have not heard him say those words yet.

    The bunkmate is a multitasking person which really means…He starts one job, hits a snag, quits, and begins another. This continues until…I insist we attempt to finish the job that is the most important, and is affecting our sweet dispositions. It is not as easy to complete as we would like.

  • Don’t Worry Your Prayers

    Recently, a friend shared her prayers and revelation concerning her adult children and grandchildren, who were traveling to Mexico to visit family. The two adults and three children had set out on their journey around 4 p.m. on a Friday. Because of the threat of thunderstorms, my friend was concerned. Before going to bed that evening, she lifted her family in prayer. However, she was still nervous about their journey until she received a text message around 9:45 p.m. from her daughter.

  • Israel’s Unlikely Adversaries

    One might expect political entities such as the United Nations or individual Islamic nations to discount the significance of Israel; however, minimizing Israel is also being done by the least expected constituency, i.e. the “church.” The movement is termed “replacement theology.” It is a movement that has been around for centuries but is presently re-emerging with millions of proponents. The church was a mystery to the Jews and was not mentioned in the Old Testament but rather was established after the death, resurrection, and ascension of Christ.

    Rogers County families in need will have help with back to school supplies for their children. First United Methodist Church is again coordinating the program to provide supplies. The project is funded by donations from other churches, businesses, civic groups and individuals.
