Inola Board of Education realigns

At the regular meeting of the Inola School Board on July 1, Drew Turner presided for his first time as Board President. The position had previously been filled by Scott Clark who resigned after serving on the Board for more than nine years.
New officers were voted on at a special meeting on June 30. They are Steve Maner, vice president; Jimmy Hall, clerk; and Mary Stout, member. One seat is vacant.
Also at the June 30 special meeting, the Board approved the hiring of Ashley Clark as secondary language arts teacher for 2008-2009.
Other changes at the July 1 meeting was the first Board meeting of Inola’s new Superintendent, Dr. Kent Holbrook.
The Board approved the school’s participation in all existing federal programs for the 2008-2009 school year. Steve Waldvogel, assistant superintendent, will be the school’s authorized representative. The IDEA-B Flow Through (Special Education Funds), a federal program, was also approved and Dr. Jo Myers, Special Services director, will be the authorized representative for this program. Charlotte Oquin, school treasurer, was granted the authority to invest school funds in state approved accounts for the 2008-2009 school year.
In other action, the Board approved:
•Membership with Grand Gateway Economic Development Association;
•Membership with Oklahoma State School Board Association;
•Membership with Orbit BusBoss Software;
•Hiring of Rosenstein, Fist & Ringold as Attorneys at Law for school term 2008-2009;
•Two band members going to Arkansas Tech Band Camp in Russellville, Ark. July 14-19 and two band members going to Band Camp in Pittsburg, Kan. July 21-24.
•First Baptist Church, Inola, using one bus for children’s camp in Tulakogee July 21-24
