Zebra Band to host car wash fundraiser

The Claremore Zebra Marching Band/Color Guard will host a car wash from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday in the Pizza Hut parking lot.
Sponsored by the Claremore Band Boosters Association, proceeds from the car wash will be put toward marching band music, drill, color guard, percussion coaches, WRJH Band contest fees, junior high band contest fees and other needs. Donations are appreciated, said CBBA Membership Coordinator Debbie Gunkel.
CBBA supports Claremore Band programs, students and directors through fundraising activities and promotion of parental involvement.
Gunkel said music and drill for marching shows will cost approximately $6,500 for the season.  Boosters also fund the color guard and percussion coaches.
She said after trailer maintenance and gas is added to music and drill costs, the total cost for marching season is around $12,000.
“Most people are surprised to hear how much competitions cost,” said Gunkel.
CBBA pays for competition fees, flags and mock rifles for the Claremore Color Guard as well.
The Claremore Marching Band early band begins on   July 26. For two weeks, students will practice on the field in the mornings and inside during the afternoons preparing for the upcoming season.
