CLAREMORE — The mission for both the Sodexo Foundation and Food for Kids Program is to provide food for needy children in the area school districts.

Since 2009, the Salvation Army — Rogers County Unit’s Food for Kids — has been supported by community fundraisers and donations from churches, organizations and area businesses. The project currently distributes nine nutritious, easy to open food items to nearly 200 students every Friday.
Claremore’s Sodexo Foundation, a world leader in food and facilities management services, partners with Food for Kids to provide students with the nourishment they need to fulfill healthy education experiences.
“Every week our staff members help deliver and pack the non-perishable items for the Food for Kids program,” said General Manager Pamela Watson.
In addition, as a registered dietitian, Watson travels to local schools, offering expertise in food and nutrition.
Earlier this month, the foundation presented a Thanksgiving meal for struggling families at all Claremore school sites.
“We had a nice turnout this year,” said Watson. “The meal not only provided good food for the children, but parents and grandparents as well.”
A similar traditional Christmas dinner will be served from 4:30-8 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 13 at all Claremore schools.
