Jump Start Band Camp date set

CLAREMORE —

The Annual Jump Start Band Camp is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. May 28-31 at the Robson Performing Arts Center.
The camp is for beginners through advanced musicians or any student that wishes to experience the benefit of music education.
Tuition is $100 per student.
Hosted by Claremore Public Schools the camp provides a unique opportunity for students, according to High School Band Director Kevin Couch.
“It is a great opportunity for kids that are coming into band to get a solid foundation and get their feet on the ground,” Couch said.
The camp is designed to get beginning students excited about the band program and help them establish good practice habits, he said.
During the camp, students will be working with a full band and individual techniques will be taught.
Highly trained staff or licensed music educators will teach basic skills and developmental techniques.
Students will have the opportunity to work with direct supervision with band ensembles. Parents will have an opportunity to rent or purchase instruments prior to the event the evening of May 13.
Instrument rental plans are available, according to Couch. Healthy snacks will be provided during the event and
at the end of the camp, students will perform a concert to display the techniques learned during the week.
Anyone interested in joining the camp can contact Kevin Couch at kcouch@claremore.k12.ok.us or by phone at (918) 346-3591.
