CLAREMORE — The Claremore Police Department responded to a call at Claremore High School at 10:05 a.m. Tuesday after a student collapsed at school.
The 15-year-old male student is a sophomore and was believed to have tried to commit suicide, according to Assistant Chief Charles Downum.
It is believed the boy took a bunch of pills before showing up for class, Downum said.
Once at school the boy collapsed the police were called for assistance.
School officials report they are still investigating the matter, according to Claremore Superintendent Mike McClaren.
“The main concern is getting treatment and then we will let the professionals work with him,” McClaren said.
School officials have been in contact with the boy’s parents.
The student was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
His status is unknown at this time.
