WRJH NJHS to host state convention

CLAREMORE —

The Will Rogers Junior High National Junior Honor Society will host the annual State National Junior Honor Society Convention March 9 and 10 in Claremore.
Dozens of junior high schools from across the state will gather for the two-day event based around leadership and teamwork activities for members, said NJHS sponsor and WRJH teacher Tracey Niblack.
“This is the first time for (Will Rogers Junior High) to host the state convention,” Niblack said. “We are honored to be able to offer positive sessions to NJHS members for use in school and in the community.”
The convention will open with a “kick off” party at the Will Rogers Memorial and Museum Sunday, March 9. Festivities will include opening remarks from Claremore Superintendent Michael McClaren, performances by a live country western band and the Claremore High School Marching Band, followed by a dance and dinner provided by Charlie’s Chicken.
Beginning at 8 a.m. on March 10, students will host conference meetings on leadership and character building at the Robson Performing Arts Center main theater. The day will include guest speakers and teamwork sessions provided by CHS student council members, and the convention will conclude at 5 p.m.
Becoming a National Junior Honor Society member is a tremendous honor for students, said Niblack.
Members are committed to scholarship, leadership, character, citizenship and service for the benefit of others within the community.
