Verdigris Jazz Band wins state for 10th consecutive year


The Verdigris High School Jazz Band recently won its 10th straight OSSAA State Jazz Championship at the University of Central Oklahoma. 
This was the 22nd overall title under the direction of Euell Hanna. 
“Thanks to hours of practice lead by band director Hanna, many students, both past and present, have won the distinction of  All-State, All-Star and Honor musician and have gone on to various colleges throughout the state and country to continue their artistic craft,” said Patrick Manning, band parent and rhythm section road crew member.
Drew Crane was named Verdigris’ All-State musician. 
MEOBDA Honor Band included: Savannah Manning, Austin Manning, Drew Crane and Rachel Gerving. Crane and S. Manning were also named to OBA All-Star Band.
Schools in the 3A state competition included: Tulsa School of Arts and Science, Dale, Victory Christian, Oklahoma Christian, Okemah, Beggs and Verdigris B Band.
