CLAREMORE — The Tulsa Symphony and Claremore Symphony League will hold the 2012 Opus String Program at Stuart Roosa Elementary from Sept. 19  to Dec. 19 for students in grades 1-6.

Students from any elementary school are able to enroll and participate in the program. The deadline for enrollment is Sept. 14.
Since starting in 2007, the Claremore Symphony League’s long-term goal has been to promote a classical orchestra in the town of Claremore. For five years the league has been especially concerned with music education in the classroom, sponsoring performances and instruction in schools.
Past performances include concerts by the Tulsa Youth Symphony and the Tulsa Honors Symphony held in the PAC.
“Our most exciting project in the past has been the partnership with the Tulsa Symphony in bringing a Class for Strings to Claremore.
The class will bring beginning lessons to students focusing on the violin,” said Stephani Freeman, Patron of Claremore Symphony League.
The group’s membership dues help raise money for fundraising events and assist in providing these types of orchestral classes for the youth and the community.
Claremore Symphony League intends to develop talent in the region by assisting Rogers State University and local schools in strengthening the music programs.
Enrollment forms for the string program can be obtained at the front office of Stuart Roosa Elementary or by calling Kathy Rad at (918) 688-1405.
