OKLAHOMA CITY — The fourth-ranked Chelsea Lady Dragons and perfect-game pitcher Kasha Kolb will take on fifth-ranked Newcastle Thursday in the opening round of the Class 3A high school fastpitch state tournament.

Each of the top six teams in the girls softball coaches state rankings have qualified for the three-day, single-elimination tournament at Hall of Fame Stadium.

Kolb has pitched 11 perfect games this season, a national high school record.

Her record, and Chelsea’s record, stands at 36-4. Newcastle is 25-19. They square off in Thursday’s third game, at 3:30 p.m.

Top-ranked Henryetta, 33-2, has the 5:15 p.m. slot, taking on No. 12 Bridge Creek.

Claremore opens the Class 5A regional at Catoosa with a 3 p.m. match against McAlester on Wednesday. Only three teams are in the double-elimination field.
