CLAREMORE — Last week, the Claremore boys got a regional preview of their first-round opponent when they hosted Tahlequah.

Tuesday night, it was the Claremore girls’ turn when they hosted Collinsville.

The two teams will meet again at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 22 at the Booker T. Washington Regional. Tuesday wasn’t a good omen.

Collinsville defeated a cold-shooting Claremore team 45-35, avenging a 60-45 Claremore win earlier this season.

Madison O’Dell did most of the damage against Claremore once again. The Collinsville star guard knocked down 28 points to lead all scorers.

The Lady Zebras had a more balanced scoring effort, but just not enough of it. Abbey Cox led Claremore with 13 points. Nobody else had more than 6.

It was trouble from the start for Claremore. They trailed 14-8 after one and 27-19 at the half. An O’Dell trey made it 21-8 at one point in the second quarter.

Claremore did battle back. A Cox 3-pointers made it 35-27 a minute into the third quarter.

With Claremore trailing by just six points with 2:30 left in the third, O’Dell struck again with a 3-pointer, making it 41-32. The Lady Zebras never made a serious run after that.
