OKLAHOMA CITY — Longtime Oklahoma City Thunder big man Nick Collison still has some backdoor passes left in him.
Collison will re-sign with the Thunder on a one-year deal, The Vertical's Shams Charania reports.
The upcoming season will be year No. 15 for Collison with the Thunder, previously the Seattle SuperSonics. He's never played for another franchise. Though he didn't play much last year, and though there was speculation throughout the regular season that 2016-17 could be the 36-year-old's final campaign, the longtime Thunder big man never actually considered retirement. He believes he can still play.
Re-signing Collison doesn't necessarily mean the Thunder are done for the offseason. They still need to finalize 2017 first-round pick Terrance Ferguson's contract. And there are some other, subtler moves they could make, like waiving someone or signing players to two-way contracts. The signing does bring the NBA roster to the 15-man limit.
