BEGGS — Berryhill put down Foyil, 54-37, Monday in the first round of the Beggs high school basketball tournament.

Chandler defeated the Foyil Lady Panthers, 53-41.

Foyil drops into the boys’ consolation bracket and will play at 9 p.m. Wednesday, against the loser of Tuesday’s Beggs-Chandler contest.

Foyil’s girls will play at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, against the loser of Tuesday’s Beggs-Tulsa Central game.

Boys

Berryhill was a little too tall, a little too physical for the Panthers, according to Foyil coach Jason Ward.

Berryhill’s Stephen Dolan scored 17 points and Dean Green added 14.

Eric Murray was Foyil’s leading scorer with 10. He also handed out six assists.

Tyler Ridgway and Jason Kersey collected 10 rebounds each for Foyil.

The Panthers, who had won five straight to open the season, stands at 7-3.

Girls

Chelsea Reherman scored 27 points and Chandler pulled away from the Lady Panthers in the second half.

From a 27-22 halftime advantage, Chandler held Foyil to nine second-half points.

“We stayed right with them in the first half,” Foyil coach Lisa Scott said.

“But then we went cold, and they didn’t.”

Kenzie Murray led the Lady Panthers with 11 points.

Foyil is now 3-7.
