BEGGS — Foyil came up short twice Wednesday in the consolation bracket of the Beggs high school basketball tournament.

Tulsa Central socked the Lady Panthers, 49-39, and Beggs edged Foyil, 44-43, in the boys game.

Both Foyil teams will play for seventh place Friday.

The Lady Panthers will meet Glenpool at 4:30 p.m. The Panthers will play Chouteau at 6 p.m.

Girls

Foyil was without the services of leading scorer Kenzie Murray, who missed the game because of an injury.

Still, the Lady Panthers stayed close for the first quarter, before their shooting went cold.

“We missed some free throws,” coach Lisa Scott said. “And we just had little trouble scoring.”

Kristen Marang led Foyil with 10 points.

Boys

Foyil managed a one-point lead early in the fourth quarter, but three straight turnovers proved costly.

“They jumped out on us early, and we had to play catch-up the rest of the way,” Foyil coach Jason Ward said.

Taylor Antle led the Panthers with 16 points and Jason Kersey added 11. Kersey pulled down 12 rebounds.

“We just turned the ball over way too much,” Ward said.

The Panthers are 7-4, the same record as Beggs.
