The Foyil Panthers put everything together last week and captured the boys championship at the Kenneth Sooter Invitational high school basketball tournament at Welch.

The Panthers walloped Watts, 57-24, in Saturday’s finals. They had reached the championship game by whipping a pair of Kansas teams, St. Paul, 60-32, in the first round, and Chetopa, 56-47, in the semifinals.

It was Foyil’s first tournament championship in a couple of seasons.

Sequoyah came up short in the fourth quarter of its title game at the Adair tournament. The host Warriors rallied past Sequoyah, 55-44, Saturday night.

Sequoyah jumped to a 6-2 first-period lead, and held a 21-16 halftime edge. Adair rallied in the third period and moved in front by one entering the final period. The Warriors then outscored Sequoyah, 24-14, in the fourth quarter.

Kenny Davis scored 21 to lead Adair, while Nick Miller and Levy Adcock had 10 each for Sequoyah. Adcock pulled down 11 rebounds.

The Chelsea girls defeated Okay, 56-48, to take the consolation bracket at the Adair tournament. Sequoyah’s girls placed third, beating Jay, 36-21, Saturday.

Tulsa Kelley defeated Claremore, 60-47, for third place at the Lake Keystone Classic at Mannford.

The Zebras wasted a 13-12 first-quarter lead and a 24-23 halftime lead.

Chris Bottoms led the Zebras with 18 points and 11 rebounds.
