LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Rogers State women's cross country team finished in 13th place in the NCAA Division II field of 15 teams at the Greater Louisville Cross Country Classic in the blue race on Saturday (Sept. 30) morning at E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park. The race included 41 teams from NCAA Division I, II and III along with NAIA and junior college programs.
Senior Hailey Gillispie set a personal best in the 5-kilometer race and paced the Hillcats with a time of 19:02.08 to finish in 15th place. Fellow senior J'Cee Holmes placed second for the Cats and 44th overall in a time of 19:44.40.
Freshman Hannah Taylor earned the third spot for the navy and red, timing 20:14.86 for a 67th place finish overall. In the fourth spot for RSU was Ellen Thomas as she ran a time of 20:35.70.
Taylor Lee and Malinda Moore finished less than one second apart for the fifth and sixth spots in the RSU order. Lee was 0.68 of a second ahead of Moore in a time of 21:21.20 for 97th place in the field. Moore posted a time of 21:21.88 for 98th overall. Beth Terhune covered the course in 21:51.48 for the seventh spot in the Hillcat lineup.
Grand Valley State won the team title for NCAA Division II programs. Fellow GLIAC member and in-state rival Ferris State placed second, and Central Washington was third.
Jacqueline Feist of Wayne State won the race for NCAA Division II individuals in a time of 17:49.34.
The Hillcats are back in action next Saturday (Oct. 7) at the FHSU Tiger Open in Victoria, Kan. The event starts at 9 a.m.
