DALLAS — Rogers State women's soccer advanced to the Heartland Conference Championship via penalty kicks after a 2-2 draw with St. Edward's on Thursday (Nov. 2) at Patriot Field. The Hillcats (13-3-3) edged the Hilltoppers in the penalty kick shootout, 6-5, to move on to Saturday's championship contest.
Senior Daisy Cardona clinched it with her penalty kick goal. With each team converting five PKs, SEU missed an attempt and allowed Cardona to propel the Hillcats to the championship match with her shot that froze the Topper goalkeeper and went to the lower left corner of the goal.

Freshman Hannah Mushisky cut the margin to one with a goal in the 25th minute for a 2-1 score. After the first period, the Hilltoppers held a 2-1 lead. Janell Hernendez picked up the assist on the goal.
In the second period, the Cats posted the only goal with Mushisky scoring the equalizer in the 74th minute for the 2-2 score. The two tallies gave the freshman 10 on the season. Both Madison Murray and Melissa Cardenas earned assists on the tally.
The contest was tight for the full 110 minutes with St. Edward's posting a slight 14-13 edge in shots. The two teams were even in shots on goal at 7-7. Even fouls were equal at 13-13.
Taylor Sargent totaled five saves in the 110 minutes and gave up the two goals. Her stretch of 390 minutes without allowing a goal ended early in the second minute. She moved to 13-3-3 on the season.
