GLENPOOL — In a non-district baseball game Monday, the Zebras dominated Glenpool on the road, winning 18-6 in six innings.
Claremore (3-3) battered Glenpool pitching for 16 hits, and also forced Glenpool into five errors.
Six Zebras had a multi-hit game. Brandon Ulhorn was 3-for-5 with a double and a triple. Jackson Martin was 3-for-4 with three runs scored. Cooper Dotson hit two doubles, Trevor Janzen was 2-for-4 with four RBIs, Noah Grimett was 2-for-3 and Brooks Sherl was 2-for-4 with a double.
Grimett was the winning pitcher. He allowed two hits in 2 1/3 innings. Taylor Davis saw his first action of the season on the mound, and gave up one hit in two innings with three strikeouts.
The game would have been over in five innings, but Glenpool scored six runs in the bottom of the fifth to keep the game going one more inning. Claremore answered with six runs in the top of the sixth to end it.
Claremore got off to a hot start. The Zebras scored seven runs in the first inning. Garrett Wood walked and scored on a Ulhorn triple. Grimett singled in Ulhorn and it was already 2-0. After singles by Martin and Tristin Hampton, a fielder's choice off the bat of Janzen scored two. A Glenpool error followed, and Sherl doubled in two more. Wood singled in another run to cap the inning.
After an RBI-double by Dotson and a bases-loaded groundout by Matt Wofford, it was now 9-0 after two innings.
Glenpool left the bases loaded in the third, and the Zebras made them pay with two more runs in the fourth on a Janzen RBI-double and an RBI-grounder by Wofford.
Ulhorn singled to lead off the fifth and scored on a Will McHugh grounder.
The home team then scored six runs on six walks, two singles and a hit batter.
Ulhorn doubled in a run with two outs in the sixth for a 13-6 lead. He later scored on an error. Martin doubled in a run and later scored on a passed ball. Dotson doubled in another run and Janzen singled Dotson home.
