Casey Hicks will be representing Rogers State at the College National Finals Rodeo this summer in Casper, Wyo.
At the final regional college rodeo of the spring, in Durant, Hicks placed third in the team roping heading competition. He won the short-go and placed second in average.
The College National Finals is scheduled June 15-22.
Rogers State’s men’s team and the women’s team each finished the season in eighth place among the Central Plains colleges.
Katrina Van Diest of RSU received a top honor for her horse. “Calvin’s Foxy Lady” was voted by regional members and directors as the Women’s Team Horse of the Year.
RSU and Northeastern A&M will co-host a National Intercollegiate Rodeo for the Central Plains Region at the Claremore Expo Center on April 17-19, 2009.
“What an honor and opportunity this will be for Rogers State University, and a chance to show all of the many other collegiate athletes, coaches and representatives from around our region what we have to offer,” said Leonard Berryhill, RSU rodeo coach.
