Lady Zebras corral Mustang
The Claremore Lady Zebras scored in the ninth inning Thursday and defeated Mustang, 3-2, in a fastpitch softball game at Owasso.
Keeli Garroutte was the winning pitcher for the Lady Zebras, 5-1, in the intersectional matchup.
After Mustang took a 2-0 lead in the top of the third, Claremore tied things in the fourth.
Jordan Ford homered for the Lady Zebras and Whitney Hocutt’s single made it 2-2.
In the ninth, Hocutt singled and was bunted over to third base. She scored the deciding run on Tiffany Chanley’s single.
Garroutte raised her record to 4-1.
Claremore has three games scheduled today in the 32-team Broken Arrow tournament at Arrowhead Park.
At Chelsea, the Verdigris Lady Cardinals won a pair of games, drubbing Chelsea, 11-2, and Commerce, 7-1.
Jordan Thomas held Commerce without a hit, pitching her third no-hitter of the season. She also drove in three runs. In the Chelsea game, Thomas homered and Lexie LaValley went 3-for-3.
The Lady Cardinals ran their record to 5-3.
Claremore Sequoyah went extra innings against Miami and picked up a 3-2 decision.
Inola played three games at the Oktaha tournament that continues today. The Lady Longhorns shaded Wagoner, 4-3, but lost to Heavener, 3-1, and Tahlequah, 5-4.
