Oologah and Foyil continued on their playoff runs Friday night, staving off elimination with area tournament victories.

Oologah defeated Collinsville for the third time in four meetings this season, 51-46, but it took overtime. The Mustangs moved into the Saturday night finals of the Class 4A area at Choctaw against Oklahoma City McGuinness. The winner of that game advances to this week’s state tournament.

Oologah closed out its regular season with three straight wins to go above .500.

In the district, regional and area tournaments, the Mustangs had put together a 5-1 string before playing McGuinness Saturday night. McGuinness inflicted the lone loss on the Mustangs in the playoffs, a 60-41 verdict in the regional tournament at Cleveland.

Dock Melton broke free for 18 points against Collinsville, which owns a Pryor tournament win over the Mustangs this season.

Oologah raised its record to 17-11

At Glenpool, Foyil proved better than Okay, 66-60, in a Class 2A area tournament game.

The Panthers went up against Pocola Saturday night for a spot in the state tournament.

Jason Kersey shouldered the scoring load for Foyil, scoring 23 points to eliminate Okay.

Like Oologah, Foyil also closed out its regular season with three wins in a row, and with a 62-61 loss to Oktaha in the regional finals, the Panthers have run off an 8-1 stretch in the last three weeks.

Taylor Antle supported Kersey’s offensive efforts with 15 points of his own and Eric Murray contributed 13 as the Panthers improved to 17-8.
