Oklahoma right-handed pitcher Jonathan Gray was named Big 12 Pitcher of the of the Week for the third time this season, the conference announced today.
Gray becomes the 13th pitcher to earn three or more Big 12 Pitcher of the Week honors in a single season and is the first Sooner to do so.
The junior from Chandler, Okla., tied a career high with 12 strikeouts, going all nine innings in a 12-1 win over Kansas in the series opener last Friday. Gray took a no-hitter into the seventh inning, ultimately allowing just two hits, one run and no walks to improve to 5-1 on the year. He leads the Big 12 in innings pitched (53.2), opponent batting average (.152) and strikeouts (63) while also ranking fourth in ERA with a 1.34 mark.
Gray joins Baylor's Grayson Porter (Player of the Week) and Texas Tech's Jake Barrios (Newcomer of the Week) as the Big 12 baseball weekly award recipients for games played March 25-31.
