Football takes another step forward Friday night with the first of two scrimmage dates for high school teams.

All nine Rogers County teams will be in action. Preseason practices have been under way for the last two weeks.

In two instances, area teams will be introducing new coaches.

Keith Bell will be unveiling his first Claremore Zebra team, and Jim Patterson will be making his debut at Chelsea.

Another lineup of scrimmages is scheduled next week, with the regular season beginning the weekend of Aug. 31-Sept. 1.

The Claremore Progress Football Preview, featuring photographs, team outlooks and player profiles, will be published on Aug. 27.
