DUNCAN, Okla. – In its final tournament of the fall, the Rogers State men's golf team is currently in ninth place out of 14 teams after the first round of the Territory Classic on Monday (Oct. 23) at the Territory Golf Club. Junior Patrick Bart sits in 11th for the Hillcats with a first round score of 1-over-par 73.
RSU shot a team score of 301 to rank in ninth place. The Cats are only one shot behind sixth place and five shots back of third. Midwestern State paces the field after the first round with a team score of 290.
Bart, a junior from Burnham, England, carded a score of 1-over-par 73 to rank in a tie for 11th place in the field of 80 golfers. He is only two shots back from the lead of 1-under-par 71 shot by five golfers. Chris Eckes of UA Fort Smith, Hayden Foster of Southeastern Oklahoma State, Dakota Clark of Oklahoma Baptist and Andres Brictson of Oklahoma Christian all shot 1-under-par 71s in today's first round.
Playing in his first collegiate event for the navy and red, freshman George Burnett put together a round of 2-over-par 74 for 22nd place on the leaderboard.
The freshman from Maidenhead, England took advantage of the par fives; going 2-under-par on the four par-five holes.
His 2-under-par score on the par fives ranked sixth in the field.
Freshman Aidan Gavey took the third spot in the Hillcat lineup with a score of 4-over-par 72 in today's first round. The product of Caledonia, Ontario tallied three birdies, ranking 10th in the field in total birdies.
Freshman Luke Palmowski finished his first round at 6-over-par 78. One shot behind Palmowski was senior Alex Marsh at 7-over-par 79.
The final round of the Territory Classic was played Tuesday at the Territory Golf Club.
